Mobile-TV with time-machine

At this year’s trade fair IBC2013 artec technologies will present the new XENTAURIX mobile-TV platform for closed user groups. Here customer-defined TV stations are streamed, both live and time-shifted; in addition, individualized video clips can be called up. Through the use of search terms applied to EPG data and subtitles, recordings can be located and immediately called up in a particularly effective way.

Up till now live TV streaming could be called up with time shifts of only a few minutes. The newly introduced XENTAURIX Mobile-TV solution now makes it possible to call up TV broadcasts over greatly extended periods of time. The scope ranges from 24 hours, adaptation to global time zones, all the way up to large time periods covering years or even decades.

”There is a great demand for these mobile-TV solutions,“ says Ingo Hoffmann, Certified Engineer and member of the Board of Directors and CTO of artec technologies AG. “Final users want to be able to call up TV stations from around the world on their smartphones and tablets. But live transmission is not of primary interest: instead, customers want to directly target news or specific stations; they want to define their own programs. XENTAURIX makes this possible with a simple click on the EPG data: the broadcast is then streamed immediately; the storyboard which is blended into the Player makes fast-forward and rewind simple,” Hoffmann continues. Individualized video clips are clips which have been generated for a particular customer and can be called up from the clip-list in his mobile-TV interface. “This is a luxury already used by VIPs for whom media monitors generate such clips according to predefined criteria.”
