XBL-BROADCAST LOGGER PROFESSIONAL

The XBL Broadcast Logger 'Professional' is used as a network-compatible, multimedia recorder for transmission confirmation, recording and VoD (Video on Demand) production or as IPTV middleware solution. Depending on configuration, this stand-alone appliance can digitally record up to 200 TV and radio stations with different levels of quality and over periods of time between 30-180 days or even more (loop recording). During recording, metadata such as EPG, subtitles, as-run-logs can automatically and with time synchronization be added. Individual texts can be added either during or after recording via bookmarks. The metadata themselves are visualized through thumbnails) in the XBL player. Through the combination of metadata and recordings, broadcasts can be targeted and immediately played back by simply entering key words.

The XBL logger applies the modern WM9 or VC-1 codec and enables recording with excellent video and audio quality but with limited storage requirements. Moreover, artec technologies patented CVoD technology enables network-based, time-shifted playback. In one operator interface, the XBL player combines live display, search, playback, metadata as well as clip editing. The player as well as administration are based on the standard Internet Explorer and need neither plug-ins nor ActiveX.  With the multiplayer in multi-screen mode, up to nine channels can be simultaneously. With the multiplayer in the multi-screen mode, up to nine channels can be simultaneously displayed live or played back.

The XBL Broadcast Logger “Professional' consists of one XBL master unit and several XBL subunits. The XBL-master unit administers and controls the overall system with all connected XBL-subunits and contains user and content management, data base and web servers. The XBL subunits are encoders, recorders and memory systems in one. Depending on configuration, a subunit can encode 1 - 8 A/V channels with a standard total hard drive capacity of 1,6TB and RAID5. Through memory upgrades, the XBL subunit can be enhanced up to 3.2TB. Recording quality and bandwidth are individually adjustable for each channel, from CIF to D1. The latest XBL generation can also process the HD formats 1040i and 720p.

Video clips can be generated very easily with the XBL player or X-Editor software in a network. With additional modules, the clips are also not only available in addition to the WM9 format, but are also convertible into MPEG-2, MPEG-4, Flash or G3 formats. For recording or long-term archiving, a complete production or archiving system can be offered with CD/DVD robots.

The XBL layout can individually customized. In the standard version, the system is available in the languages D, GB, F and E. Additional languages and characters can easily be adapted by the language editor. Even in its basic configuration, the logger provides analog video and audio inputs. Optional inputs such as SDI, DV, DVB-S/C/T are also available. With such a variety of options (see reverse page), the XBL logger is extremely efficient and can optimally be adapted to clients’ needs.

XBL Broadcast Logger systems have been in use ever since 2001, and have proven themselves to be reliable transmission confirmation and VoD production systems around the world.
