For media companies, press offices, news and marketing/advertising agencies, artec technologies AG’s TV-online broadcast recording service provides a TV-monitoring service which gives customers access to a hosted 27/7 TV-online recorder. With this recorder, they can call up broadcasts and/or broadcast segments as video streams via the Internet. Location of the broadcasts/segments is targeted by key words or calendar date. The search results appear in a clearly structured list with preview image display. With simple clicks on the mouse, relevant broadcasts can be played back or video clips created and then either centrally or locally stored.
At present, the TV-online broadcast recording service offers 23 German-language and two English-language TV stations which can be continuously recorded in 24/7 operation for a period of at least 30 retroactive days. Recording is done in an endless loop, so recordings from the last 30 days in the sequence are always available. Together with the broadcasts, EPG data as well as title and content descriptions are stored. As a result, targeted broadcasts can be called up directly and with split-second accuracy simply by the entry of key words into the search engine. The uninterrupted recording operation eliminates the need to program specific TV broadcasts. You don’t miss a thing any more.
Time-shifted playback
Continuous recording of TV broadcasts enables time-shifted playback of a minimum of 20 minutes up to a maximum of 90 days continual transmission. During playback, the time-shifted stream is transmitted from the online recorder directly to the end unit; for example, a PC, notebook or PDA. Just as with a digital video recorder, playback can be stopped, fast-forwarded or rewound at any time. Time-shifted playback is possible from anywhere to anywhere at any time via the Internet with any standard Internet Explorer – plug-ins are not necessary. The switch-over to full-screen display is done with the browser. The multibit stream provides WMS streams with 300k and 1 Mbsp.
Integrated search engine
With the TV online broadcast recording service, TV episodes can be targeted for search through the entry of key words from metadata, EPG or bookmarks and then directly played back. Additional options include a calendar function and a turbo-fast rewind/forward. A further alternative is the search function with “Speech to Text“ technology.
Storing clips
It is easy to create clips and store them in the individual online archive or download them as files. The clip function operates exclusively with the 1Mbit stream.
Multiscreen
A further highlight of the TV-video search engine is the simultaneous playback of between two and nine TV stations using split-screen display. The number, size and station allocation of the display windows can be set individually. This is an ideal tool for comparing broadcasts with one another! Audience-rating display: the display of audience ratings (viewer quotas) of specific TV stations can be booked as an option.
Operation: The TV-online broadcast recording service is operated with the Windows Explorer. The installation of additional plug-ins or ActiveX is not necessary. You can easily navigate through the service with the simply designed browser interface. Search results can be tagged with bookmarks for easy playback at a later time. Video clips are easy to create and can be stored centrally or locally.
Recording length: the standard recording length always comprises 30 retroactive days, i.e. 720 hours per channel. As an option, a recording length of up to 90 days per TV channel is possible.
Display: the TV-online broadcast recording service provides very high video quality. This quality is so high that videos can be displayed in full-screen size with TV quality or viewed on a PDA.
